The Washington Post’s Dan Eggen interviews a whistleblower at the Justice Department’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms who says he was denied his customary bonus after he blew the whistle. Former ATF Deputy Director Edgar A. Domenach has filed a complaint with the Office of Special Counsel, an independent executive branch agency dedicated to investigating charges of abuse against federal employees.  Domenach says Justice hasn’t properly investigated former ATF Director Carl J. Truscott, whom Domenach alleges used ATF funds to hire personal security and even forcing underlings to help his nephew with a high school video. Domenach further alleges that Truscott was in cahoots with then-Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, effectively preventing a serious investigation.  Gonzales is gone, but Domenach still works at ATF, though he is no longer deputy director.  His complaint may have permanently marginalized him among agency leadership.  Read Eggen here.
