More on FOIA: the Treasury Dept. complied yesterday with a federal judge’s order to release complaints about their “Specially Designated Nationals List.” The list is meant to catalogue citizens linked with drug trafficking and terrorism.

But according to the Department’s own estimate, 90,000 consumers, whose names are identical or similar to names on the list, say they have had their privacy invaded or loans denied. Also, according to the New York Times’s Neil MacFarquhar. the Dept. has perhaps not disclosed everything. Names have been inked out of the public list and a Dept. spokeswoman says that no record was kept of phone complaints. Read MacFarquhar here.   MB
