The Washington Post’s Spencer S. Hsu reported yesterday from Postville, Iowa, where Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials raided a meatpacking plant, rounding-up 389 undocumented immigrants. The detained immigrants, many held at a Cattle Exhibit Hall, are more than 10 percent of the town’s 2,300 inhabitants. With their parents detained, half of Postville’s 600 students didn’t go to school last Tuesday.

So the Dept. of Homeland Security’s ICE has paralyzed Postville. Hsu has another criticism of immigration policy via raid:  Why aren’t they going after the employers? No executives from Agriprocessors, the raided plant, have been charged.  Read Hsu here.  MB
