So concluded the space agency’s inspector general in a report made public yesterday on spinning global warming science. The New York Times’ Andrew Revkin reports that NASA’s press office worked in 2006 to silence the work of James E. Hasen, the agency’s top climate scientist who blew the whistle on the administration. Also, Hasen and other scientists were stopped from talking to the media themselves about climate change.
The IG report isn’t as hard hitting as it could be. No one above the press office was found culpable. And since, predictably, NASA now has new press people they say that the problems were old news that have since been fixed. Read Revkin here. MB
