The Democratic convention is no excuse for state attorneys general to rest in their legal action against the Environmental Protection Agency. The Wall Street Journal’s Ana Campoy reports that 12 states have sued EPA for not implementing greenhouse gas emissions standards on oil refineries that have new, polluting equipment.

I’m not clear, actually, why the states are doing this as EPA is already getting sued for not regulating greenhouse gases in general. And they’re getting sued for not specifically letting states regulate automobile emissions. Regardless, the lawsuits promise that the Bush administration’s EPA will live on in courtrooms after Bush, and EPA Administrator Stephen Johnson, leave office.-MB
