The following ten entries for the $50,000 Prize for Preventive Journalism were selected by the judges, Charles Peters, Bill Kovach, and Katherine Boo, as finalists for the 2008 prize.

    Eric Lipton is the idiot-boy from the NY Times who, in a previous piece about “the revolving door of government” couldn’t seem to tell the difference between career feds and political appointees. Bad choice.

    I thought that in journalism you were only as good as your LAST piece. Anyway, I hope you read his CPSC article because Lipton got inside the agency in ways most reporters have not, and his article and others helped precipitate a more aggressive attitude in Congress about reforming the CPSC.
