Meanwhile across town, Treasury secretary Timothy Geithner seems all ears when it comes to answering the calls of some but not others in the financial industry. Daniel Wagner and Matt Apuzzo of the Associated Press noticed the following:

Geithner’s calendars, obtained by the Associated Press under the Freedom of Information Act, offer a glimpse into the extraordinary influence of those three companies. More than any of their rivals, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and J.P. Morgan Chase can get Geithner on the phone — several times a day if necessary — giving them an unmatched opportunity to influence policy.

While it’s perfectly appropriate for Geithner to speak to the heads of those firms, who else is he talking to?  Looks those bank officials tend to have more access to him than officials of smaller banks or even average citizens who are paying the price for the big banks’ performance.
