3429249254_414b32e204_mBlogging was non-existent yesterday (but trenchant analysis on the Chicago Housing Authority was here!) and will return in modified form today as I’m assignment in Mattoon, Illinois — the likely home of the first-ever “clean coal” power plant. I will have much more on Mattoon later, but for now I’m working in a coffee shop that’s playing “acoustic classics” — acoustic versions of Top 40 radio hits like the Spin Doctor’s “Two Princes.” Also, here’s an image of one of the rural town’s drawing cards — the first-ever Burger King.

This “clean coal” power plant will have to use the 1/3rd of the power it generates to even capture the carbon. Doesn’t sound to efficient does it? Al Gore gave these stats this week as he is plugging his new book.
