3182485869_30fb890be5_mThe Chicago Sun-Times’ Dave McKinny, Tim Novak and Chris Fusco have an interesting report on the failure of current Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn to purge state government of Rod Blagojevich political cronies. The disgraced former governor allegedly committed “endemic hiring fraud,” according to Chicago prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald, in giving hundreds of state jobs as political favors.

Quinn has gotten rid of some Blagojevich people, but he he hasn’t pursued this more. Preoccupied with a state budget crisis and looming election, Quinn has underwhelmed in getting Illinois to move on from the Blagojevich era with good-government reforms. Even if those reforms just mean firing some political hacks.
